Oklahoma Travels

Smokey Smurf and I left her place about 12:45.

After a brief stop at a convenience store for: Smokey’s ciggs, two 20 oz pops, and some munchies we headed out for our destination, Elmore City Cemetery.

It was a beautiful day for a drive.
It was a beautiful day for a funeral.
It was just a beautiful day.
I’m glad we went.

It’s hard making time to spend with the one’s you love when you have to factor in work and everything else. Smokey and I don’t get to spend enough time together.

So this was very nice.

We talked on our hour long drive down there, deciding that since it was Grandma’s funeral we wouldn’t start anything. Grandma wouldn’t have liked that…not to mention Grandpa.

We were almost to Highway 74 (our first turn off) when we were just talking about how we were prepared for anything. I had my cell phone (even though I had forgotten to charge it, LOL), we both had money for gas and we had easy enough directions…

Then it happened.

The front plastic thing on the hood of the car (sorry, I’m a woman and I don’t know the technical name for it) started flapping in the wind. LOL

So we had to stop and see whether we could:
A) fix it or
B) take it off and have someone else fix it later.

It seems one of the screws just “fell” off. We nigga-rigged it as best we could and laughed about “our luck” and hoped that this wasn’t a premonition of things to come.

We made it there without incident. Hey, we even got there early. Early in my family means “on time” in real life, but this time we actually were there before 2 O’clock.

I saw my two aunts, which was weird.
I was glad to see someone was excited about our presence. Everyone else kinda stayed away from us like we had the plague. LOL, that was just fine by me. I just wish some of them hadn’t spoken and other’s had. Nah, I’m not going to elaborate on that one. Just I miss the young ones. Smokey especially misses them and I’m very sensitive when it comes to Smokey. I hate to see anyone make her sad or cry…it brings out the bad side of me.

Well, on our way home we talked and did some pinky-swearing and stopped for lunch. Somehow our conversation turned from family to the old house we used to live in. Creepy stuff happened in our house…C-R-E-E-P-Y stuff.

All in all…it was a good day…even if we did end up talking about ghosts. LOL
